Richard Riker, MD graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, followed by fellowships in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Maine Medical Center. He is also board certified in Neurocritical Care Medicine and is currently employed by Chest Medicine Associates in South Portland, Maine. Dr. Riker has been honored for teaching excellence from the Departments of Medicine (1994, 2006), Family Medicine (1996) and Emergency Medicine (2006) and recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Riker has more than 80 peer reviewed publications and co-authored the 2002 and 2012 clinical practice guidelines for sedation and analgesia in the ICU for the American College of Critical Care Medicine. The Society of Critical Care Medicine honored Dr. Riker with best research presentation awards in 1990, 2007, and 2009.
