Our faculty and staff collectively provide expertise in a variety of research areas and a range of research methods. Our services are available to faculty, staff and trainees at Maine Medical Center, and to staff at other institutions on a contract basis. Services include consultation on study design, sample size estimation and power analysis, data analysis, and manuscript and grant preparation.
CORE staff provide formal education through seminars and workshops on research methods, data analysis, and development of grant applications and manuscripts. CORE conducts an all-day research course in the spring and in the fall for residents and fellows.
Mentoring is an essential component of successful research, and CORE scientists provide mentorship for junior investigators throughout MMC. Mentors meet regularly with investigators to provide guidance on specific research projects and to foster professional development.
Center for Performance Improvement
CORE works closely with the Center for Performance Improvement (CPI) to allow for the integration of a health systems engineering and quality improvement approach to translational research. CPI has its own staff and aims but works closely with CORE across MaineHealth to ensure efforts are coordinated and successful.
Community Engaged Research
Through CORE’s work on the Northern New England Clinical and Translational Research Network, Rural Health Services Core staff work closely in Maine’s rural communities to promote research activities and projects which strengthen community health
