Appropriate levels of thyroid hormones are especially crucial during early developmental stages as well as later in life. Among other diseases changes in thyroid hormone levels have been linked to many different neurological and behavioral disorders, including muscle weakness, impaired memory, anxiety, and depression. My research interests focus on the effects of altered thyroid hormones for the brain during development and later on in the adult and their consequences on behavior.
