Research Interests

  • Improvement of diagnostic reliability utilizing educational and metacognitive techniques in improving clinical reasoning skills
  • Determining methods for identifying and reacting to diagnostic errors and the use of physician reporting systems

Dr. Trowbridge is Director of Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum at Maine Medical Center. He graduated from Colgate University and Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Hospital as well as a fellowship in Hospital Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. In addition to his role as Curriculum Director, he serves as site director for the Internal Medicine Clerkship and for the Portland site of the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship.

His specific interest is in the development of clinical reasoning abilities and avoidance of diagnostic error.
