WGME 6/29/2016 6:45:49 AM: ...seize her here unfortunately on the beach. >> anchor: people with conservatory say they will conduct a necropsy to see how it died. skeleton will be eventually on display at the new england museum. >> anchor: and Maine medical center gets $5 million to create a lung cancer program. the grant from bristol meyers squib foundation will help them to create a state wide initiative to improve prevention. and treatment of lung cancer. according to cdc incident rates and deaths due to lung cancer among the highest in the nation. red cross is apologizing for a swimming safety poster some call racist. poster showed a cartoon of kids committing do's and don'ts at the pool. well some took offense because children of color were labeled doing not cool activities. in a statement the red cross said we deeply apologize for misunderstand i go as it was not our intent to offend anyone. the organization removed this image from the website. >> now, your good day maine weather authority forecast. with meteorologist amanda jellig jellig. >> weather: today we are starting off with mostly cloudy skies. on the muggy side as well. and we have, of course, the rain showers continuing to fall. the heaviest of the rain still moving in early this morning. now, many of us had rainfall rates at almost 2 inches per hour. so after being in these dry conditions. of course, we can use the rain. but a lot of it is coming down fairly heavy. so rain will become more scattered over the course of the afternoon hours. and temperatures, welfarely consistent. 64 degrees right now in portland. we have a light breeze picking up out of the south. so here is a look at the bigger picture of what we have. everything developing just ahead of our very slow moving cold front. so that's going to keep the rain in the forecast for today. and then we have high pressure that will build in on back side of the cold front. so as high pressure builds n clouds will gradually move out. and we will see more sunshine. by tomorrow. until then, well, we will enjoy the rain while we have it. we have some pop up thunderstorms. so lightning tracker. we are at 26 lightning strikes already. so embedded in the thunderstorm we can have areas of locally heavy rainfall. now temperatures and dewpoint temperature. right on track with each other. so we have a very saturated overall atmosphere. so that is going to keep a lot of the low level moisture around. that will keep us in this very ...
