MaineHealth Institute for Research is composed of basic and clinical research laboratories and health services research that support the research training of scientists, and scientists-in-training (postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students), professionals (physicians) and medical trainees (residents, medical students).
Education & Training at MHIR
The research faculty at MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR) have academic appointments at University of Maine at Orono, and the Tufts Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. We provide graduate research training opportunities at the PhD level through these institutions, with thesis research performed in our basic science laboratories at the Scarborough research facility.

The Center for Molecular Medicine at MHIR hosts a seminar series with internationally renowned research scientists in the biomedical sciences. Everyone is welcome to attend these seminars, and continuing education credits are offered for attendance.
